The July 2026 Microsoft 365 price change, explained.

On 1 July 2026 Microsoft raised the price of Business Basic and Business Standard. Business Premium stayed the same price. Here is what changed, and what to look at before your next renewal.

What changed

Microsoft announced the change in December 2025 and it took effect on 1 July 2026. Business Basic and Business Standard went up, and Business Premium did not. The plans also gained some extras, rolled out between June and September 2026:

  • Mailboxes doubled from 50 GB to 100 GB on Business Basic, Standard and Premium.
  • Business Basic and Standard now check links in email when someone clicks them, which Business Premium already did.
  • Copilot Chat gained new features across all three plans.

When it reaches your bill

You pay the new price from your first renewal on or after 1 July 2026. On a monthly plan, that was your first monthly renewal after that date. On an annual plan, the price you agreed holds until the end of the year, and the new price starts when it renews. If your annual plan renewed shortly before 1 July, you keep the old price until the renewal after that.

What to look at before you renew

Check each person's plan

Because Business Premium stayed the same while Business Standard went up, the step between them is smaller than it was. If you have been asked about security by an insurer, a client or a Cyber Essentials assessor, Business Premium is better value than it was a year ago. Plans can be mixed, so only the people who need it have to move. Our plan comparison sets out the differences in plain English.

Tidy your licences before the renewal date

On an annual plan, the renewal date is when licences can usually be reduced. A short review in the weeks before it means you renew with the licences you need, on the plans that suit each person. Our licence review covers this, or you can check it yourself in ten minutes.

Choose monthly or annual with your eyes open

Annual plans cost less per month and fix the price for the year. Monthly plans cost more but can be reduced each month.
