Covid 19 – The ultimate disrupter

The ultimate disrupter

Covid 19 has for the vast majority on people on the planet been the ultimate disrupter. It has devastated lives and adversely affected the very fabric of society, no area has been spared. How do we find ways to live with this ever present threat whilst we look for a cure. We have to adapt and change we have to innovate, get creative, and do more with less. We have to become accustomed to change however uncomfortable that might seem.

#Stay home Stay safe

In the early days of the outbreak Government advice was to stay home and stay safe.  We hurriedly set up home working for ourselves and our staff.  Over the course of the next 5 months we realised that some of our setups were a little ‘Heath Robinson‘ and actually with a little application we could establish very sophisticated home working arrangements.

These setups would provide all the security, safeguarding, collaboration, video conferencing and storage we could ever want. Teams seemed to be the perfect answer seamlessly integrating with the Microsoft Office suite

There seemed to be an overwhelming desire for users to want to connect back to desktop PCs back at the office, when the real answer was to use the power of the cloud. When we showed how easy it was to use these online collaboration tools it became obvious how immensely powerful they are.

Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella delivered their quarterly earnings report to Wall Street—the first in the era of COVID-19. On the call, Satya shared some new numbers:

In April, we saw more than 200 million Microsoft Teams meeting participants in a single day, generating more than 4.1 billion meeting minutes. Also, Teams now has more than 75 million daily active users, and two-thirds of them have shared, collaborated, or interacted with files on Teams as well.

Companies large and small across the land are now realising the true power of Cloud Computing. Microsoft 365, Teams, Cloud Telephony and many others are all now helping businesses keep the cogs of industry turning. We can do our bit to innovate, create, do more with less and above all remain productive.
